Cheese Pakode / Cheese Fritters

On the occasion of International Cheese Day I had to make something and thought Cheese Pakode is an ideal dish to enjoy with my afternoon tea. Who doesn’t love Cheese?. France has cheese for every occasion and why not? So being a turophile I had to make Cheese Pakode or Cheese Fritters. Very easy to make and with all ingredients that are easily available I enjoyed #InternationalCheeseDay

Serves -2 people

Preparation time -19 mins, Cooking time-15 mins

Ingredients

2 strips of Amul cheese slices

3-4 Tbsp besan or chickpea flour

1/2 tsp whole black pepper

1/2 tsp whole coriander seeds

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 tsp red chilli powder

1/2 tsp cumin powder

Pinch of asafoetida

Pinch of baking soda or bicarbonate

1/2 tsp white sesame seeds

Salt as per taste

Oil to fry

Method

In a mortar & pestle make coarse powder of whole coriander seeds and whole black pepper powder. In a bowl add besan or chickpea flour, add coarse black pepper-coriander powder, red chilli powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, asafoetida, baking soda, white sesame seeds and salt. Mix well. Add water and whisk well so that there is no lump. The consistency should be neither too watery or thick. Take the cheese slices and put in the mix. The cheese slices should be cool ones and not in room temperature. In a wok heat oil and dip the cheese slices and fry in oil. Flip when one side is done. Have a kitchen towel close by on a plate and keep the fried cheese Pakode or fritters on the kitchen towel to absorb extra oil. Serve with your favourite dip. I had ur with hummus and it tasted very good
