Cutlet similar somewhat to schnitzel is a very popular Indian snack and various versions are there. The British have introduced to Indians and most Eastern part of Indian people enjoy. My favourite of course is Mutton cutlet which is from mutton mince meat. But, I’ve been thinking that making from oats would be an interesting vegetarian option. I made it completely vegetarian and the binding agent had been oats powder which works far better than cornstarch or any other binding agent. Recipe is as easy as it can be

Ingredients
1 cup oats
3 medium size potatoes
1 sprig of coriander leaves chopped fine
1/2 cup oats powder
1/2 cup maida
1 medium onion chopped fine
2-3 green chillies chopped fine
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp garam masala powder
6-7 Tbsp oil to fry
Salt as per taste
Method
In a pressure cooker add water and the potatoes to boil for 3 whistles. Set aside. Cool, peel and mash. Make oats powder in a blender In a big bowl add oats, mashed potatoes, chopped coriander leaves, chopped onions, chopped green chillies, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, salt and mix very well. Make Balls and flatten like a patty. In a bowl add the maida and add water to make a runny batter. Take a flattened patty dip in maida batter and put in oats powder, coating well and set aside on a plate. Finish for the rest of the oats mix. Now in a wok heat oil and shallow fry the patty 2-3 mins on each side and flip. Complete in batches. Use your favourite ketchup or dip to enjoy
